#tbt 2 Latino Brothers accept Islam together at the IslamInSpanish Centro Islamico
King (left) who is Black and Puerto Rican, and Jr (right) who is Mexican, have known each other for about 20 years back in Sacramento, CA. In recent years they relocated in Houston, TX and during their initial time here in Houston they were introduced to Islam. Jr found the VICE documentary on youtube featuring IslamInSpanish titled "Why Latinos are Converting to Islam" and instantly had a connection with Mujahid being that they all had a similar upbringing in the streets. So they started researching and watching more of our content online until they felt this is the way of life they want to live.
This past Tuesday they both decided to take their shahada with us because they felt they would be more comfortable learning from other Latino Muslims. They actually stopped at a mosque closer to them but they were told to come back at another time. So they looked up the IslamInSpanish Centro Islamico, even though it was 45 minutes away, they decided to come visit and to their surprise Mujahid, who is the main subject on the VICE Documentary, was there to welcome them to the community and to Islam. Allahu Akbar! They both were very excited to find out that they accepted Islam during the best days of the year, the first 10 days of Dhu Hijjah, alhumdulillah and are very motivated to continue learning and being a part of their new family.

2 hermanos latinos aceptan el Islam juntos en el IslamInSpanish Centro Islámico King (izquierda), que es negro y puertorriqueño, y Jr (derecha), que es mexicano, se conocen desde hace unos 20 años en Sacramento, CA. En los últimos años se mudaron a Houston, TX y durante su tiempo inicial aquí en Houston fueron introducidos al Islam. Jr encontró el documental de VICE en YouTube con IslamInSpanish titulado "Por qué los latinos se están convirtiendo al Islam" e instantáneamente tuvo una conexión con Mujahid ya que todos tuvieron una educación similar en las calles. Entonces comenzaron a investigar y ver más de nuestro contenido en línea hasta que sintieron que esta es la forma de vida que quieren vivir.
El pasado martes ambos decidieron tomar su shahada con nosotros porque sintieron que se sentirían más cómodos aprendiendo de otros musulmanes latinos. De hecho, se detuvieron en una mezquita más cercana a ellos, pero les dijeron que regresaran en otro momento. Así que buscaron el Centro Islámico de IslamInSpanish, aunque estaba a 45 minutos, decidieron visitarlo y, para su sorpresa, Mujahid, quien es el tema principal del documental de VICE, estaba allí para darles la bienvenida a la comunidad y al Islam. Allahu Akbar! Ambos estaban muy emocionados de saber que aceptaron el Islam durante los mejores días del año, los primeros 10 días de Dhu Hijjah, alhumdulillah y están muy motivados para seguir aprendiendo y ser parte de su nueva familia.
